Overview
Self++ is a coaching and mentoring service that builds the skills and mindset of neurodiverse people to help them become independent.
We work with program participants to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based), break down those goals into smaller tasks and build the skills and confidence required to perform those tasks.
The frequency, delivery method and content of sessions are tailored to each individual in the program to ensure the right level of support is provided. Reviews are undertaken on a quarterly basis, or as required, to ensure the level of support is consistent with participant’s needs.
The program also builds a mentoring relationship with participants through informal activities and general guidance and advice as required.
Once a participant has been in the program for a period of time, there may also be the option for them to become a peer coach themselves on either an employment or voluntary basis, if they so wish.

Skill Areas
There are several skill areas we focus on to help our participants achieve their independence:
- Finding and Keeping a Job
- Running a Household
- Securing Accommodation
- Social Skills
- Budgeting
- Leadership
The skill areas of focus covered by the program are evaluated and prioritised based on the needs of each individual. If a participant is proficient in one skill area or is willing and able to receive relevant ongoing supports, then that particular skill area may be skipped altogether or the level of support provided by the program can be altered as necessary
Coaching and assistance can be provided before, during and after major events underpinning the corresponding skill area, such as finding a new job or securing a place to live.
One-on-one Coaching Sessions
Coaching sessions can involve role playing, work experience, exercises, online learning, live assistance, or any other method deemed appropriate to meet the objectives of the session.
Sessions are conducted in accordance with the underlying strategy that is developed when a participant joins the program (which in itself is the first session a participant will attend).
Sessions can take place at the home (or potential home) of a participant, at a mutually agreed location, in a workplace or via telehealth. Travel expenses can be charged under the corresponding line items in the price guide if required.

Group Coaching Sessions
Group coaching sessions may involve events or activities conducted as regular part of the coaching program, or workshops targeting a specific subject to benefit multiple participants at once.
We will post a list of events, workshops and short programs on this web site as they become available.
